Our Council of Governors is seeking to appoint a Non-Executive Director to join the Board of Directors at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented, values-led finance professional to help shape the future of our Trust at a pivotal time.
We are specifically looking for a candidate with substantial senior-level experience in finance, audit or strategic financial leadership, who will also Chair the Trust's Finance and Performance Committee. You will play a key role in providing independent oversight of our financial health, performance assurance, and long-term sustainability, whilst supporting the organisation's strategic recovery and improvement ambitions.
Our values underpin everything we do at GMMH, and successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate alignment with these values as well as with the NHS Leadership Competency Framework for Board Members.
We know that the best boards reflect the communities they serve. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with lived experience of our services and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, and people with disabilities, who are under-represented in these important roles.

As Chair of the Finance and Performance Committee, the successful candidate will lead on:
- Oversight of the Trust's financial strategy, budget planning, recovery programmes, and performance against operational and financial targets.
- Providing assurance to the Board on financial risk, value for money, and the delivery of sustainable, high-quality care.
- Leading committee discussions and scrutinising the Trust's financial and operational performance with independence and rigour.
- Ensuring that the patient voice and quality of care remain central to financial decision-making.
As a Non-Executive Director and member of the unitary Board, you will:
- Contribute to shaping the Trust's strategic aims and objectives.
- Hold the Executive Directors to account for the delivery of performance.
- Support governance, uphold the Trust's values, and champion transparency and continuous improvement.
- Build productive relationships with the Council of Governors and other key stakeholders to ensure effective public accountability.
