Job summary

This post will work within a wider service user and carer engagement team reporting to the Head of Service User Carer Experience and Engagement under the portfolio of the Trust Chief Nurse. The postholder will work closely with the Lead for Service User Carer Experience to ensure engagement activity is informed by lived experiences of services. The team houses the Trust Recovery Academy and is soon to welcome a new post under the Patient Carer Race Equality Framework so it is an exciting time to join a friendly, talented team who are passionate about improving service user and carer access, experience and outcomes through engagement and inclusion.

Main duties of the job

This post will work across all services to ensure service user and carer engagement at all levels of the organisation in the design and delivery of services so that they are informed by people with lived experience and represent the needs of local communities. In doing so we aim to improve access, experience and outcomes and reduce health inequalities.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject with postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Leadership qualification/willing to work towards.

Desirable

  • Training qualification e.g. PGCE or Cert.Ed.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of the NHS Services Act in relation to service user carer involvement.
  • Experience of service user carer engagement and co-production across a large organisation to bring about culture change.
  • Up to date with the co-production agenda in mental health services.
  • Experience of supporting service users and carers in practice.
  • Experience of working to tight timescales and delivering on time within major programmes of work.
  • Experience of change management and working in partnership with senior leaders who may have conflicting priorities.
  • Experience of strategy/policy development and implementation.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to volunteering.
  • Budget management experience.
