Job summary
We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and contemporary practicing registered occupational therapist, to join us within our welcoming forensic occupational therapy team. Our team work across the male and female medium and low secure wards based in Prestwich, Manchester.
You will manage a complex caseload of patients who have a diagnosed mental health condition with a history of offending behaviour. You will be expected to deliver evidence base one to one and group occupational therapy interventions.
Our team value and prioritise evidence based practice and you will have access to a range of opportunities to ensure your practice reflects this. We have regular journal clubs, Inservice training and have recently developed occupational formulation sessions within the team.
We try to ensure that your CPD needs are met and we offer funding for training in line with your appraisal. Our team have are proud to have embedded Model of Human Occupation into our occupational therapy pathway and we thrive on delivering the highest quality of occupational therapy to our patient group.
Main duties of the job
- To manage a defined specialist caseload using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate intervention
- To provide clinical, professional leadership for junior staff within the service and be a positive role model
- To deliver a range of individual and / or group interventions drawn from relevant frames of reference, demonstrating sophisticated clinical reasoning skills.
- The postholder will be an emerging leader and skilful communicator and will liaise and negotiate with varied professional groups.
- The need to be research and professional standards aware and use evidence to support and develop practice.
- The post holder will provide regular fieldwork opportunities for occupational therapy undergraduates and contribute to the learning of other team members or students from other disciplines.
- They will have responsibilities for mentoring, coaching and/or developing others and supervise junior practitioners and support staff, delegating work to add to the effectiveness and efficiency of the team.
- To work within a secure mental health setting and by utilising evidence-based assessments, identify risk within the performance of occupation in order to contribute to the formulation of risk.
