Job summary
The Adult Forensic Service is its own care group, and provides medium secure - The Edenfield Centre, low secure - The Lowry Unit, and specialist forensic community mental health services within the Greater Manchester Adult Secure Provider Collaborative.
You will likely be assigned to work on a specific ward(s) with a case load ranging from 12-16 under one or two different consultants, with opportunity to rotate through and work within different areas of the service on a six-monthly basis.
You will work collaboratively with a full clinical team, including a consultant psychiatrist, clinical psychologist, a forensic social worker / approved mental health professional, an occupational therapist, and a medical secretary.
This post is ideally suited for psychiatrists developing their capabilities in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with mental disorders.
Main duties of the job
It is expected that all doctors will:
Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council and to abide by professional codes of conduct.
Participate regularly in supervision and review of their portfolio with the Consultant.
Comply with the Trust's agreed policies, procedures, standing orders and financial instructions, and take an active role in the financial management of the service and support the medical director and other managers in preparing plans for services.

Take a proactive role in identifying risk and acting on the results to resolve s at source wherever possible bearing in mind resources and priorities and liaising with line management.
Take part in risk management practices both clinical and non-clinical in line with the Trust's Risk Management Strategy.
Be open and honest and report actual and potential incidents and participate in developing systems to identify and record and respond to near misses.
