Job summary

An opportunity is available within the Wigan CAMHS School Link Team for a BAND 6 Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our friendly and hardworking team. This position is to provide maternity cover.

The School Link Team are part of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Wigan. The team work collaboratively with primary and secondary schools to offer advice and support through consultation around any emerging mental health concern to develop a plan ofdirect or indirect support. As the post is identified within the CYPMH strategy and Wigan CAMHS is currently undergoing a transformation plan, it is expected the role will continue to develop in line with national and local initiatives.

Main duties of the job

This role focuses on early identification and mental health prevention and promotion. As a senior mental health practitioner, you will be aligned with THRIVE's getting advice and getting help domains to act as the first point of contact to schools offering advice through face to face, video or telephone consultation. You also provide advice and training around whole schoolapproaches to mental health. The team offer short term intervention with children, young people, parents/carers and/or professionals with the aim of supporting improved mental health. Each school link practitioneris aligned to one of Wigan's service delivery footprints/Neighbourhoods.You will work collaboratively to empower school staff to support young people to thrive by enabling;o Early identification and assessment of any emerging mental health or emotional wellbeing need in schools.o Mental health promotion through working to upskill school staff, young people and parents to normalise mental health within schools, reduce stigma, support early identification of mental health symptoms and raise awareness of self-help support and self-management strategies.

Please Note: The service Operates predominantly 9-5 term time however there would be expectation for staff to be available to work between the hours of 8-6 during School Term time to meet Service Needs on occasion.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Up to date Professional Registration/membership (to be maintained), eg RMN, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in the field of child and adolescent mental health

Desirable

  • Other relevant therapeutic qualification e.g. Family Therapy, DBT, ACT or brief intervention qualification EMHP, CYWP

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Experience of Multi-disciplinary working within a Mental Health setting
  • Experience and ability to Triage and accept or signpost routine referrals.

Desirable

  • Experience working with children and young people with mental health and emotional needs in education setting.

SKILLS

Essential

  • Ability to utilise CYP assessment skills and routine outcome measures effectively including mental health and risk assessments
  • Good organisational/time management skills with the ability to work autonomously, carry a caseload and offer half termly consultation support to a locality of up to 25 schools.

Desirable

  • Use multimedia materials for presentations in professional settings.
