Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen withinour Older Adult service at Woodland Hospital (Salford). We are looking for an enthusiastic qualified Speech and Language Therapist keen to further develop their skills in supporting patients' mental and physical health. This varied and rewarding role will require you to have highly specialist skills and the ability to work autonomously with patients who have acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.
The successful applicant will be joining a multi-professional inpatient team, working with Older Adults in mental health. They will also have links with our supportive team of Speech and Language Therapists, who work across different areas of the trust. The successful applicant wouldhave access to regular meetings and CPD opportunities, with other speech therapists, who are also fully committed to providing the best quality service to this patient group. Regular clinical and managerial supervision are provided and the postholder will be supported by experienced Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapists and the MDT team.

Main duties of the job
To effectively examine and assess patients, identify theirproblems, and needs and ensure that patients' medical,cognitive, psychological, social, environmental, and culturalfactors are taken into account including those with diverse orcomplex presentations/multi-pathologies.o To utilise examination and assessment findings to competentlyplan and carry out highly specialist programmes of treatmentfrom a range of therapeutic options appropriate to each patient,using evidence-based practice.o To be able to relate findings of assessment to presentingdisease/pathology/ impairment.o To set appropriate treatment aims and objectives in negotiationwith the patient and/or carer.o To take responsibility for devising highly specialist programmesof care for other professionals to carry out and for ensuring theyare carried out appropriately.o To monitor and evaluate programmes of care carried out byother professionals and carers.
