Job summary

The post holder will be part of the Greater Manchester Talking Therapies Central Team. The service supports people with common mental health problems by providing psychological therapies. This role will involve providing employment support to service users to help them move closer to, gain, return, or stay in work.

Main duties of the job

You will work with people that are unemployed and/or have challenges with their current employment. Encouraging and supporting clients to recognise the importance of productive work and its positive contribution towards their mental health. You will help clients plan their route towards meaningful activity and employment. Your role will be to create support mechanisms, liaising and engaging with Employers, Education and Training services, Employment Support Services and Third Sector Organisations, supporting and advising people with mental health problems, who are seeking new employment or support and advocacy within their current roles

You will be joining the Employment Team at an exciting time as we work together to create a new employment team which can support the existing therapy offer. There will be opportunities for you to share your opinions, ideas and influence what the service looks like into the future.

  • oEquivalent experience gained through work in the field.
  • oDemonstratable experience of supporting individuals to gain or retain employment.

Desirable

  • oExperience of working with people suffering from common mental health problems.
  • oExperience of working in a service where agreed targets and key performance indicators are in place.

Education / Qualifications

Essential

  • oNVQ level 3 minimum or equivalent.
  • oEvidence of further study in vocational training, careers advice, job retention and presenteeism

Desirable

  • oEvidence of a good customer service background.

Knowledge

Essential

  • oUnderstanding of common mental health problems and the potential workplace implications of these conditions.
  • oWorking knowledge of community resources including employment and disability related benefits.

Desirable

  • oKnowledge of employment law and the Equality Act 2010.
