Job summary
The successful candidate will work within a dynamic inpatient NHS detox unit. The post holder will manage the admissions and discharges for the Chapman Barker Unit. This will include assurance around delivery of block contracting and SPOT referrals. The post holder will be expected to collaboratively work with commissioners and the senior leadership team. The post holder will provide direct line management of a small team of senior nurses within the admissions team. They will provide clinical input to support the admission of patients and assessment of new admissions. The successful candidate will arrange and lead on 'open days' to community providers and commissioners to showcase the service offer at CBU. They will work directly with community providers and frontline staff in community teams to build capacity and understanding of the nature of CBU, supporting timely, accurate referrals and admissions to the unit. The successful candidate will lead on the RADAR pathway (Rapid access to Alcohol Detoxification Acute Referral) which takes admissions directly acute hospital Accident and Emergencies. This role will include teaching and training for these referring services.

Main duties of the job
Promote effective patient flow based on individual service users care pathways whilst ensuring least restrictive practice and optimizing lengths of stay.
To promote and facilitate timely admissions and discharges within inpatient unit through safe, timely and effective bed management.
To act as a resource to provide education, advice and support relating to all aspects of admissions and discharge planning.
To operate as a member of Inpatient Multi-disciplinary team to provide clinical expertise to facilitate safe admission and discharge from the inpatient service.
To liaise closely and effectively with key staff in other agencies, addiction services, adult social services, rehabilitation units etc to maximize safe and timely discharges.
To liaise with commissioners providing feedback and ensuring clear communication regarding wait times, number of referrals, admissions, and discharges.
Lead on the RADAR pathway, liaising with each area as required.
To offer training to all other agencies to ensure pathways (planned and RADAR) are clear, referrals are accurate completed and sent in a timely manner.
Provide supervision and training to the admission team.
To chair as required board rounds and keep accurate records.
To participate in the local on call rotas as required.
