Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our new community mental health service in Wigan called Living Well (LW). Living Well provides support for people who might not traditionally meet the threshold or criteria of existing mental health services.

Main duties of the job

In this new role within our team, you will increase the levels of psychological support and care provided to people who access the service. You will provide psychological assessment, formulation and possible brief interventions/groups to people referred to the LW service. You will also offer supervision, consultation, training and reflective practice groups to support all staff to work in a psychologically-informed way. With Living Well being a new service, there will be several opportunities for service development, audit and evaluation.

With this being a new role within the team, there will be opportunity for the role to be developed by the successful candidate to fit the needs of the Wigan population. Essential

  • Good honors degree in psychology. Eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
  • Post-graduate doctorate in clinical / counselling psychology, (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996), as accredited by the BPS.
  • Eligibility to register as a clinical / counselling psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Completion of relevant modules of Accredited Doctoral Clinical Psychology Course: Introduction to Supervision Courses (approx. 30 hours) or equivalent, or professional equivalent.

Desirable

  • Completion of further post qualification training within psychological therapies (e.g. CAT, DBT, CFT, MBT, EMDR etc.)

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of providing clinical supervision to psychologists and/or, psychological therapists and other core health professions.

Desirable

  • Experience of audit and service evaluation within psychological therapy services.
