Job summary

An exciting position has arisen for a highly motivated Senior Psychologist to join our established team at the Rivendell Service for women at HMP New Hall.

The Rivendell Service is a long-standing and well-established residential treatment unit which exists as part of the National Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) pathway, run in partnership with Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) and HM Prison and Probation Service (HMMPS). Rivendell is a two-year treatment programme, on a dedicated wing offering a range of bespoke one-to-one interventions and groupwork to a maximum of 16 women.

Our clinicians are trained to deliver a range of modalities, including DBT, Schema, EMDR, CFT and CAT. Residents present with complex risk, trauma and personality problems and are supported to develop more effective strategies to manage their difficulties.

We are a formulation led, trauma informed service, with a focus on relational dynamics to work effectively with the client group and develop understandings of how personality problems influence the risk of further offending or harm to self. Collaborative working practices between NHS and HMPPS staff are integral to the delivery of our service.

The role will be varied and stimulating, offering excellent opportunities to develop a broad range of skills. We actively encourage and fund training and development opportunities. You will be supported by an experienced clinical team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to be responsible for supporting the formulation-driven care for a small caseload of service-users. Detailed assessments, including assessments of risk and idiosyncratic and trauma informed formulations, provide the foundation for long-term therapy and intervention. The completion of such assessments, formulations and interventions will be a key part of the role.

The service prides itself on offering a strong partnership arrangement with HMP New Hall and the successful candidate would be expected to provide officer supervision, training and contribute to the daily staff support sessions. It is also essential that the post holder can demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to disseminate information to a range of stakeholders in an accessible and meaningful way.

The successful candidate will be expected to support the wider day-to-day delivery of the clinical model, working in partnership with a range of prison staff, wider stakeholders and adhering to the OPD pathway specifications.
