Job summary

Irwell Ward is a 6 bed male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit based at the Moorside Unit in Trafford (In-Patient Services). We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated STR Worker.

You will work within the Therapy team on the Moorside Unit, supported by our Occupational Therapist, based within the ward Clinical Team.

The post holder will need to have an interest and positive attitude to working within mental health settings and be confident in dealing with challenging situations. The post holder should be prepared to pro-actively contribute to delivering therapeutic activity, as part of a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

To work directly with service users to provide Support, and give Time to engage them in their Recovery and promote health and well being in line with their care plan, under the direction of the Line Manager/Senior Practitioner on duty.

You will support the clinical team to provide individual and group activities, based on interests and building skills, to the patient group on Irwell. The STR role also requires active involvement in planning and implementing interventions aimed at reducing restrictive practice and promoting a safe and therapeutic environment.
