Infection Prevention and Control Nurse

Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Registered nurse with relevant clinical experience and a keen interest in improving patient safety through expert knowledge in relation to Infection Prevention & Control. We are seeking someone with an engaging, friendly and proactive manner/ethos to join our infection prevention and control service to help us develop. You will need to be capable of developing the IPC agenda and putting in place effective systems to deliver, monitor and report on compliance with excellent standards of infection prevention and control across our organisation.

Work to ensure the organisation meets its statutory and regulatory requirements in relation to infection prevention and control.

Report on compliance with standards

Develop and review polices, guidance and flow charts to support good IPC practice.

Develop and deliver training and education and develop resources to support effective and safe practice.

Take the lead on reducing the risk of outbreaks and ensure robust systems are in place for early detection and management of isolated infections.

Where an outbreak occurs be responsible for identification, notification, and actions to contain the transmission and spread- reporting to the DIPC on outcomes.

Main duties of the job

As a result of the post-holder being effective in their role, The Trust would expect to see the following outcomes for the Trust, service users and the wider community:

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) providing inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford and Trafford and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond. Also providing Health and Justice Services in a number of custodial settings.

  3. Staff engaged with the delivery, innovation, and continuous improvement of services to benefit service

To be successful you will need to be educated to Degree level or equivalent and have some relevant training and experience in infection prevention and control and importantly a passion for developing this further.

You must be able to travel to all GMMH trust sites and cover core hours of the service Mon - Fri 9am - 5pm
