Job summary

A part time vacancy has arisen at the GMMH Crisis Caf based at No 93, Wellbeing and Recovery Centre at night. 30 hours per week. Job share considered.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a pioneering and developing service, the aim of which is to offer a Practitioner led, community facing alternative to A&E for those experiencing mental health distress.

The Crisis Caf at no 93 is an out of hours service which offers:

  • One to one sessions with experienced Mental Health workers
  • Help for people to stay well at home
  • Signposting to other local support services
  • Interventions to help identify positive coping strategies

Opening hours are 8pm to 1am Monday to Friday and 3pm to 1am at Weekends. Shifts are 6.30pm to 2.30 pm Monday to Friday 2pm-10pm or 6pm to 2am (or long days 2pm to 2am if preferred) at the weekend. As the service is operational outside of office hours, there is no daytime working during the week.

Main duties of the job

The Band 6 Practitioner will meet with people who attend the Crisis Caf and engage in assessment, planning and interventions according to the person's needs and to support crisis care planning.

Ensure attendees are supported to engage with colleagues, including support staff and volunteers, to ensure that service users receive the right care at the right time from the right person.

Work collaboratively with the service user and others involved in their care, where applicable, to create safety plans drawing on strengths and resilience

Signpost to other services where necessary, such as IAPT, CMHT and Home Treatment Teams

Support service users with a range of evidence based therapeutic interventions according to their individual needs

Support the Team Manager and colleagues in the ongoing development of the service
