Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to appoint a substantive Forensic Consultant Psychiatrist at the Edenfield Centre, Prestwich Hospital.
This post will involve working with male patients in conditions of medium security. The post holder will act as Responsible Clinician for up to 12-14 male inpatients (on average). There are also opportunities for working with the health and justice services in the prisons covered by GMMH.
The post holder will be supported by a multidisciplinary team including a junior doctor or an advanced practitioner, clinical psychologist, occupational therapist, and social worker.
Main duties of the job

They will be expected to lead the multidisciplinary team undertaking ward rounds and CPA meetings on alternate weeks and completing necessary clinical duties and documentation in line with directorate standards.
Adult Forensic Services provide care and rehabilitation for patients with primary mental illness diagnoses, although patients will often have coexisting personality pathology and a small number may have coexisting learning difficulties and/or neurocognitive difficulties. Our services do not currently provide care for patients with either personality disorder or learning disability as a sole diagnosis.

Subject to agreement at job planning, the successful candidate will devote two PAs to the rota. For consultants providing full-time (2PA) input to the referral rota there will be around 2 to 4 assessments per month, however, once these posts are filled then the frequency will be reduced. The Specialty Trainees will also provide input to the referral rota, along with consultants.
