Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an RMN to apply for the post of a Band 5 Staff Nurse on Our 10 bedded regional perinatal psychiatric mother and baby ward.

Andersen Ward specialises in the treatment and care of women who develop serious mental illness or relapse during the antenatal and postnatal period. A core part of the role requires you to support mothers to develop and maintain a relationship with their infants. Family and friend involvement is a significant part of the ward culture and we promote and support their involvement.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has a keen interest in perinatal mental health nursing.

The service has strong working partnerships with a wide range of primary professionals, midwives, health visitors, social care and children services across the North West and as such you will need excellent communication skills, work well within a large multidisciplinary team.

You will be expected to work a 24-hour rotation of day and night shifts and be required to work on adult acute, psychiatric intensive care and older adult wards as service demands.

The role include rotation throughout the perinatal service including perinatal community mental health teams across Greater Manchester.

In return we will provide you with the opportunity to develop excellent clinical skills in a specialised area of mental health as well as access to a variety of training opportunities and regular appraisal.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist in the overall delivery of care to patients on the Ward.

They will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

The post holder will at all times comply with the NMC Code of Conduct, relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
