An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner within the mental health team at HMP Forest Bank.
HMP Forest Bank is a Category B prison which houses male prisoners aged 18 upwards. The prison is operated by Sodexo Justice Services who work in partnership with Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust to provide a high standard to mental health care to those in their custody.
The post holder will work within the psychological therapies team providing low intensity interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. The training will equip the post holder to provide a range of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression related difficulties.
The post holder will be enrolled in the Graduate Certificate Promoting Psychological Wellbeing course which commences in March '24 at University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN). On successful completion of this programme, this post will be uplifted to a AFC Band 5 Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner role.
This role is based on site at HMP Forest Bank and the successful applicant will work with offenders on both a 1:1 basis and in groups.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will attend all taught (UCLAN) and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within the National Low Intensity curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills.
The post holder will work within a team who offer and deliver low intensity, psychologically informed interventions to address mild to moderate mental health problems.
The model of care used by the service is the stepped care model of care which the post holder will contribute to in the delivery of individualised care and a commitment to promoting recovery and wellbeing.
We would welcome applicants who have a genuine interest in working within the Health and Justice setting in prison. The successful applicant will receive regular clinical and managerial supervision along with excellent training and development opportunities within GMMH.
