Job summary

An a exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 2 Support Worker to join the Mental Health Liaison Service at Wythenshawe Hospital. The successful candidate will be joining a highly motivated, dynamic and supportive team providing care to patients of all ages who are experiencing mental health difficulties within the general hospital setting.

You will be providing direct one to one person-centred mental health support and interventions across the general acute wards and the Emergency Department.

You will have the opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge throughout regular supervision with a registered clinician, access to e-learning programmes and in-service face to face training sessions.

When joining the team you will be provided an in-depth induction into Liaison covering all areas of care as well as shadowing clinical staff during your induction period.

This position requires rotational shifts over the 24/7 timeframe.

Prior experience of working within an acute mental health setting (with any age group) is essential and you should have a proven track record of excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Main duties of the job

You will be working with patients who are experiencing mental health difficulties supporting and encouraging this care group within Wythenshawe Hospital.

You will be providing person-centred care and supporting patients with a wide range of mental health needs working alongside registered practitioners to provide a supportive and compassionate level of care.

Your role will involve communicating with patients and carers within the Emergency Department and generalwards to ensure they are informed around the progress of their care and care planning.
