Job summary

GMMH Facilities Department are looking to recruit a Waste Management Operative for our Waste Management Team to support our vision of minimising our overall waste arisings across the trust footprint in line with NHS England Net zero targets, Health Technical Memorandum 07-01: Safe and sustainable management of healthcare waste guidance and the NHS Clinical Waste Strategy by helping us to work towards a circular economy vision by segregating and reducing waste at source and reusing furniture / equipment where possible to avoid disposal, whilst rethinking processes to deliver strong service goals to our service users and customers.

The post holder will be the front face of the GMMH Waste Management Team, working with colleagues across Facilities and the wider organisation to make sure that an efficient waste management service is delivered across the trust.

The post holder will undertake driving, portering and waste management duties to meet the standards, policies, and objectives of the Waste Management Team and Trust.

The post holder will work as part of the Logistics / Waste Management Team and will be required to work closely with their colleagues, providing a flexible and comprehensive service offering cover for colleagues when necessary, for which full training will be provided.

As part of the Waste Management Team, your day will be varied and a key part of ensuring that our customer's needs are met in an efficient and friendly manner.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be the front face of the GMMH Waste Management Team, working with colleagues across Facilities and the wider organisation to make sure that an efficient waste management service is delivered across the trust.

The post holder will undertake driving, portering and waste management duties to meet the standards, policies, and objectives of the Waste Management Team and Trust.

This role is indicative of band 2 and is subject to a job matching panel.
