Job summary

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is on a progressive journey of improvement, and never has there been a greater time to sit as part of our Trust Board as we embark on this journey as we look to the future with renewed energy and focus to provide the best care possible to the communities we serve.

We are looking for two new Non-Executive Directors with wide and varied experience to act as an ambassador for GMMH so that those who use our and care about our services are assured we are working to the highest of standards with integrity, openness and transparency.

Main duties of the job

We have a number of roles available, and as well as those more interested in general Non-Executive Director roles, we are also particularly interested in those who have a medical background and also someone who will have financial experience with a relevant financial qualification to Chair our Audit Committee.

Whatever the specialism though all should have passion, energy and a deep commitment to the NHS, Greater Manchester and the North-West.

Our Shared Values are so important to us, and whilst we need those with personal and professional experience to help us achieve our ambition, we also want those who can actively demonstrate how they Inspire Hope, Work Together, Value and Respect, be Caring and Compassionate, and most importantly right now - demonstrate how they operate with Openness and Honesty as we build back trust with those who use our services, their families and their carers.

We want our Board to include people with a broad spectrum of lived experience and are keen to attract candidates who can bring diverse perspectives. We welcome expressions of interest from the widest possible range of backgrounds, particularly those who are under- represented at Board level in the NHS.

Additionally we would also expect an understanding of the health inequalities in our communities and be able to demonstrate an empathy with the needs and expectations of those who use are services.

Applicants will be expected to join a planned assessment day on 18th July 2023.
