Job summary

The post holder will work with the CMHT at Cromwell House as a consultant psychiatrist, providing clinical leadership to the team. This will involve assessing new patients, managing patients on standard and enhanced CPA with severe and enduring mental health conditions and developing appropriate management plans. It would be anticipated that this would be about 4 outpatient clinics per week, plus urgent OP appointments as required. The post has a full-time speciality doctor position attached to it The role includes attending the weekly meeting with the CMHT, taking part in CPA meetings and conducting home visits. The post holder would be expected to see emergency assessments following a duty assessment (by care co-ordinator rota) and would also be expected to engage in Section 12 MHA work for patients allocated to their teams.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be encouraged to attend the weekly MRCPsych teaching course at least 4 times a year. This is the weekly academic course for trainees which combines a case conference, journal club, and expert teaching. The post holder will also be encouraged to attend training for SAS doctors organised by the Trust and HEE.
  • They will be involved in undergraduate teaching for medical students from Manchester University Medical School. There will be an opportunity for involvement in Themed Case Discussions and to become an OSCE examiner.
