Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Think Wellbeing Wigan: NHS Talking Therapies to recruit a Specialist Perinatal CBT Therapist.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, dedicated and motivated individual to join our step 3 team and provide evidence based interventions to new and expecting parents.

You will be part of a busy Talking Therapies service providing a mixture of face to face and remote sessions via teams.

This post offers the exciting opportunity to development the perinatal pathways within our service and also contribute to developing staff members by providing training.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will join the Step 3 therapy provision within Think Wellbeing Wigan: NHS Talking therapies as a specialist perinatal practitioner. They will provide appropriate cognitive behavioural assessment, formulation and high intensity interventions, both remotely and in person on a face-to-face basis.

The post holder will work with clients with the full range of Common Mental Health Disorders, of varying complexity, for which CBT has been demonstrated to be potentially clinically effective. They will liaise with external perinatal services to ensure that a pathway into our service is established.

The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary, and should be committed to equal opportunities. As part of our efforts to improve access to psychological interventions the successful post holders will be required to provide one evening clinic per week.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualification from High Intensity IAPT Course (Post Graduate Diploma) OR Equivalent: e.g. A recorded/registered doctoral level qualification in clinical or counselling psychology/ a recorded/registered qualification in one of the following - nursing, social work, occupational therapy or a psychological therapy - plus further post graduate diploma qualification in CBT from a recognised or accredited training provider AND significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner and demonstrating the competences as required.

Desirable

  • Training in an additional therapeutic modality.

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of working in mental health services Relevant experience in Primary Care settings treating anxiety and depression-related problems Ability to meet agreed/specified activity and service targets Ability to manage own caseload and time
