Job summary
We are delighted to invite applications for a full time clinical psychologist to work with the Trafford home based treatment team (HBTT). This is a fixed-term post over 12 months, to cover maternity leave for the existing clinical psychologist in the team.
In this fast paced multi-disciplinary team you will offer assessments and evidenced based brief interventions to service users in Trafford in need of intensive home based treatment. You will support the multidisciplinary team by developing formulations based on psychological theory and advise around care planning, risk assessment and discharge planning.
You will work as part of a well established psychology service in Trafford and have excellent links across the Trust with colleagues in other secondary care teams, including other home based treatment teams. Greater Manchester Mental Health is a research active Trust with a number of specialist research units to support a range of research activity. We have close links to the research departments at the University of Manchester and with local training courses.
The successful candidate will be creative, resilient and enthusiastic about working with multidisciplinary colleagues to provide the best possible care for people under the Trafford HBTT. You will be well organised, able to prioritise your work and be able to work well with people from a range of disciplines and backgrounds. Main duties of the job
Based in multi-disciplinary team, you will be one of the lead clinicians in the team and will take a lead role in promoting a psychological and trauma-informed perspective on mental health problems and delivering psychological work in relation to this. This will include providing psychological assessments, formulation, and intervention work. In addition to direct work with clients and their families/ carers, a core part of the job will be supporting effective team-working and providing supervision, consultation, reflective practice, and training for colleagues within the team and related agencies/ services. We are looking for someone with a keen interest in working with complex and enduring mental health problems, emotional and relational difficulties, and an understanding fo the social factors in which these occur.

To agree, in conjunction with the HBTT manager and psychology clinical and professional leads, the appropriate utilization of psychological resources to the team. To contribute to the provision of team services and fulfilment of team priorities and objectives. To contribute to the Trusts social inclusion agenda.

- Professional qualification in Clinical Psychology at doctoral level (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) or Counselling Psychology as accredited by the BPS

- HCPC registration as a qualified Clinical Psychologist.

- Previous experience of delivering structured psychological interventions to clients with severe and complex mental health problems. Experience in risk assessment, formulation and management particularly important.
