Job summary

Working according to the principals of Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE) and trauma-informed approaches. The post holder will form part of the Manchester Homeless Mental Health Team and will work within the Doherty Project which is run by Great Places. The Doherty project offers specialist support and accommodation for men and women who need help maintaining accommodation because of difficulties related to alcohol use.

The aim of this role is to develop Doherty House into a psychologically aware and trauma informed service. Working directly with staff the role will be to primarily offering training, reflective practice, advice and liaison for staff. Working alongside the Manchester Mental Health and Homeless Team the post holder will have access to expert MDT support. This is a new role initially for one year with further funding for the project to be agreed.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide clinical supervision, training and team reflective practice and case formulation to front-line staff and management within Docherty Project.
  • To contribute to the service delivery and target objectives/priorities of the Mental Health and Homeless Team (MHHT) plans, in agreement with the relevant team leaders/managers, to ensure the most efficient and effective utilization and contribution of psychological knowledge and practice.
  • To deliver highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy to clients with complex, severe and longstanding mental health difficulties, which frequently involve high risk behaviour, e.g. risk of suicide and self-harm.Clients who are referred to the Service have often either failed to engage with, or benefit from, other mental health services, and can be particularlyhard to help who reside in hostel setting.
  • Liaise, as appropriate, with clinicians and managers outside of the Service regarding clinical and service issues.
