Job summary
The role of the Child Psychotherapist / Clinical Psychologist is to ensure delivery and development of a high-quality parent infant mental health service which is underpinned by a psycho-analytical framework to compliment the range of psychological/therapeutic services within the multi-disciplinary service; working from families from conception up to the age of 3 years.
Our service works with families from conception up to the age of three years of age. We offer specialist support, advice, consultation, supervision, assessment & interventions to families and to professionals within the Wigan borough. Our aim is to break down the trans generational impact of adverse childhood experiences that our families experience and achieve this by using a psycho analytical framework of thinking to engage families and the professional network.
To support you in this role, we would offer an enhanced clinical and managerial supervision offer to ensure safe practice and support your learning and development.
Main duties of the job
- Ensure that interventions are planned in an integrated and co-ordinated manner particularly where dependent on other external agencies identified through supervision or complex case discussion.
- To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation, from a psychodynamic perspective to other professionals, to assist in the formulation, diagnosis, management and treatment of clients.
- To provide reports and communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients.
- Following consultation be responsible for developing care packages including assessing, planning, intervention and evaluation. Ensuring active involvement of parents and infants
- To provide specialist psychotherapeutic assessments of referred families and identify collaboratively the most appropriate treatment for them
- Participate in the development / delivery of a programme of training for other professional groups working in parent infant mental health service
- Lead on programmes of audit and research within the team and implement the findings
- Lead on areas of service development
- Deputise for the Team manager / Clinical Lead in their absence
- To provide Clinical Supervision both internally and externally
- To contribute to the training experience of trainee Child Psychotherapists / Clinical Psychologists as appropriate.
