Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for the post of Cognitive Behavioural Therapist within the Community Therapies Hub. The successful post holder will provide CBT and CBTp for service users who have complex secondary mental health needs as part of a multi disciplinary team. We welcome applicants from practitioners with existing CBT qualifications, or those soon to be qualified and looking for support to develop into the role. In this event, we would commence in a Band 6 role with a preceptorship in place once suitably qualified.

You will be supported by the Clinical Psychology team and have opportunities to develop your skills in areas such as training, complex case discussions and service development. You will also have support from the wider Therapies Hub, which includes the Personality Disorder Pathway and Occupational Therapy team.

The service has good links with local clinical psychology programmes and the regional CBTp training centre and is supportive of research and development.

Clinical and managerial supervision will be provided. The post holder will also have regular opportunities for CPD, developing their own clinical skills as appropriate.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for service users with complex mental health needs.

The postholder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team for mental health services and, as such, will work within its co-ordinated framework.

The postholder will work within the procedures, protocols and guidelines for the Service.

The postholder will plan and organise their work schedule and tasks, having managerial and clinical supervision as the role demands.

The successful applicant will join an experienced team and benefit from close support from the teams Clinical team manager. There are excellent opportunities for shared learning and continuing professional development.

Qualifications

Essential

  • oDoctoral level professional qualification, or equivalent, in Clinical Psychology thereby enabling registration as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health Professions' Council. OR A registered qualification in health care at graduate level in nursing, social work or allied health profession PLUS post- graduate qualification (diploma equivalent) in cognitive behaviour therapy

Desirable

  • oTraining in another specialist therapeutic modality appropriate to the clinical population served and service requirements (e.g. DBT, CAT, EMDR, CBTp, MBT)

Knowledge

Essential

  • oA thorough understanding of what is required in working in a Multi-Disciplinary Team in terms of appropriate and professional behaviour and in dealing with confidentiality and similar issues.

Desirable

  • oKnowledge of current psychological evidence base and best practice in working within client group.
  • Awareness of key legislation / policy relevant to secondary MH services.
