Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a new team that will support and work across children's services working with young people who are presenting with difficulties that may place them at risk of admission to specialist inpatient or residential care. The Ealing model development across Wigan and Bolton.

The CAMHS team are expanding to support this exciting offer in line with wider Greater Manchester. The exciting role is to support the development of the service being offered to children and young people with Learning Disabilities in Bolton and Wigan CAMHS. You will be joining a small, warm and cohesive team working with children and Young people with learning disabilities, with backgrounds in clinical psychology occupational health and speech and language. The team will be supported within a larger and equally friendly CAMHs team and lots of opportunities for liaison and developing your skills exist.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide high standards of evidence based client centred care to children and young people with learning disabilities within Bolton and Wigan CAMHS [CYPMH]. You will need to have a good understanding of the functional assessment of behaviour and the development of positive behavioural support plans and will be expected to provide advice, consultancy and supervision to both internal CAMHS colleagues and colleagues within external partner agencies, as appropriate to grade.

Main duties of the job

A key part of the role will be the development, review and implementation of Positive Behavioural Support Plans for children and young people whose behaviour challenges.

The post holder will be expected to have a good understanding of functional assessment of behaviour and the development of positive behavioural support plans.

The post holder will co-ordinate referrals to other agencies and work with other agencies to prevent the need for hospitalisation and to ensure that those young people who have in-patient treatment are in hospital for the shortest possible time. They will support the coordination of transfer of patients to local adult services as appropriate.
