Job summary

This is a rare opportunity to join a very well established network of clinical psychologists and psychological therapists working across secondary care teams in Trafford, Greater Manchester. This is a full-time, permanent post - although requests for part-time working will be considered. Nationally, community mental health services are in a process of transformation and you will join the organisation at an exciting moment as this develops and will have the opportunity to contribute to shaping and delivering these service changes.

We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with an interest in CAT (cognitive analytic therapy) - either people who have completed this training or people who would be interested in completing this training. The service has committed to funding the core part of CAT training for the successful applicant, so this represents a sought-after opportunity to gain additional post-qualification training and a qualification directly relevant to your role.

Main duties of the job

Based in a friendly, multi-disciplinary CMHT for adults of working age, you will be one of the lead clinicians in the team and will take a lead role in promoting a psychological and trauma-informed perspective on mental health problems and delivering psychological work in relation to this. This will include providing psychological assessments, formulation, and both individual and group intervention work. In addition to direct work with clients and their families/ carers, a core part of the job will be supporting effective team-working and providing supervision, consultation, reflective practice, and training for colleagues within the team and related agencies/ services. We are looking for someone with a keen interest in working with complex and enduring mental health, emotional and relational difficulties, and an understanding fo the social factors in which these occur. An interest in models of psychological provision relevant to this area of work is essential, and in particular an interest in CAT (cognitive analytic therapy) will be particularly valuable, and the service will provide funding to support training in this therapy for the successful candidate.
