Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a creative and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our inpatient Mental Health Rehabilitation Services.
The post is based at Copeland Unit, 15 bedded mixed sex high dependency inpatient unit situated on Salford Royal Hospital site. The post holder will be supported by a Senior Occupational Therapist and work alongside a Band 3 Occupational Therapy Assistant.
The post holder will work creatively to identify and support the development and delivery of both therapeutic individual and group interventions to facilitate service user recovery. The aim of interventions is to achieve service users' goals in all areas of occupation to optimise levels of independence and working towards community living
Regular supervision and support will be provided by Senior Occupational Therapist with access to the wider professional OT rehabilitation forum to share skills, CPD and access further opportunities for training and development.
Main duties of the job
The successful individual will work within a multi-professional MDT to assess and deliver evidence based Occupational Therapy interventions that facilitate recovery, and enable service users to fulfil their optimum level of personal, social and occupational functioning. The post holder will be responsible for completing occupationally focussed assessments and planning and facilitating group sessions. This will also include identifying and developing links with other agencies to support transitions and inclusion within service users local community
To be successful in this role you will need good communication skills, be flexible, organised and highly motivated. You will need the ability to build effective working relationships and be able to demonstrate a commitment to client-centred, non-discriminatory practice.

To work as a member of a multidisciplinary team on the rehabilitation unit for clients with complex mental and physical health needs providing an Occupational Therapy service.
Create and maintain an environment that supports social participation, health promotion and inclusion, with access to resources and facilities required to achieve this. This will include working with other agencies.
To use evidence based Occupational Therapy and recovery principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in line with the relevant care pathway.
Specific to assessment the post holder will utilise evidence based assessment tools to establish baseline functional assessment which will determine ongoing care and treatment to enable optimal functioning.
The post holder will creatively identify and support the development and delivery of both therapeutic individual and group interventions to facilitate recovery and optimise independence.
To maintain accurate professional clinical documentation in line with HCPC and RCOT standards.
The post holder will provide line/clinical supervision for the Band 3 Occupational Therapy Assistant.
The post holder will regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placements.
To be able to work flexibly including evening work as required.
