Job summary
Based at Atherleigh Park within our state of the art £40 million mental health hospital, we are looking to recruit a very enthusiastic band 8a clinical/counselling psychologist to join an existing embedded inpatient team based in the Therapy Hub. Psychology positions including an 8a for Later Life and Memory Service; 8a & 8b working into the acute & PICU wards and a number of assistant psychologists. We have an 8c Clinical Lead psychologist for the Urgent Care Pathway . We will work with our community and other urgent care pathway colleagues to offer high quality patient centred care.
Main duties of the job
The post will predominantly focus on working with the adult acute population ward based offering individual assessment, formulation, brief intervention and will offer group based interventions across the service subject to covid restrictions. The aim is to provide effective signposting and link up with other services to enhance the patient journey through our clinical pathways.
The post will also support the development of clinical care pathways through service development and evaluation.
There are opportunities for joint work via the Inpatient Therapy Hub with activity workers, occupational therapists, psychologists, physiotherapists, partner agencies and experts by experience including peer support workers.
The ward based multi-disciplinary teams are well established and have very good working alliances with psychology. The Therapy Hub will also offer you the opportunity to contribute as well as receive staff wellbeing initiatives such as mindfulness and access to a gym.
We run a training programme for staff to offers skills in brief psychological interventions such as stabilisation, resilience, crisis skills and recovery. There will be the opportunity to supervise others. The post holder will support the inpatient wards multi-disciplinary leadership teams and have a keen interest in service/team development.

- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent) as accredited by the BPS
- Demonstrate models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.

- Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training &/or other fields of applied psychology
