Job summary

GMMH Health and Justice Psychological services, which sits within the Specialist Care Group are looking to recruit a senior clinician to join our developing team; providing clinical leadership and supervision, strategic service development and direct clinical assessment and intervention.

This is a split role. Two days of the week the post holder will be expected to provide direct clinical assessment, formulation and intervention at HMP Buckley Hall. Working as part of the multidisciplinary mental health inreach team (MHIT) and supporting the wider psychological provision provided across both primary and secondary care.

The remaining role will be to work closely with the Consultant clinical psychologist to develop the wider H&J Psychological service that currently oversees provision into nine North West prisons. With emphasis on the development of trauma informed care, the wider development of the primary and secondary care psychological provision and consideration of neurodevelopmental need within the offending population. As such the post holder will be expected to have experience of leading, managing and supervision and would need to demonstrate high level clinical skills.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the psychological therapy leadership team to ensure the implementation of psychological and trauma informed understanding of offender mental health and personality presentation. To draw on a range of psychological theories including attachment, trauma and adversity and how this is linked to offender mental health.

To complete assessments, formulations and make recommendations for ongoing support, care and management of service user psychological health and well-being.

To provide consultation, advice and support based on developed formulations and psychological information.

To provide supervision and leadership across the Health and Justice network.

To provide training and formulation support to MHIT and HMPPS staff.

To support the development of psychologically informed ways of working and to work collaboratively with others to implement this.
