Job summary

Based at Atherleigh Park within our state of the art £40 million mental health hospital, we are looking to recruit a very enthusiastic part-time 8a clinical/counselling psychologist working for the Later Life and Memory in-patient service. We are available to discuss your work / life balance for this part-time post.

You will be joining existing embedded psychologists;8as's & 8b working into the acute & PICU wards and a number of assistant psychologists. We have an 8cClinical Lead psychologist for the Urgent Care Pathway also based in the team. We will work with our community and other urgent care pathway colleagues to offer high quality patient centred care.

Main duties of the job

The post will predominantly focus on working with the older adults with memory & affective mental ill health from a ward environment offering individual assessment, formulation, brief intervention and will offer group-based interventions across the service subject to covid restrictions. The aim is to provide effective signposting and link up with other services to enhance the patient journey through our clinical pathways.

The post will also support the development of clinical care pathways through service development and evaluation.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent) as accredited by the BPS
  • Demonstrate models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • Registration with Health Professions Council as Practising Psychologist

Desirable

  • Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training &/or other fields of applied psychology
  • Additional Training in provision of therapy

Experience

Essential

  • Experience during training of specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention with clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and inpatient settings.
  • Experience during training of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course, presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity

Desirable

  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
  • Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts
