Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated peer mentor co-ordinator to work in a new community mental health service in Wigan called Living Well (LW). The Living Well Service willenable timely access to mental health services when people need it most and provide supportfor people who might not traditionally meet the threshold or criteria of existing mental healthservices. The team will be multidisciplinary and will include third sector organizations.

You will be supported by other members of the leadership team including a team leader,clinical lead, and operational programme manager. CPD opportunities are available andpersonal interests/skills will be supported to develop and grow.

The Wigan Living Well Service will be compassionately led, trauma informed, and recoveryfocused. Living Well has co-produced key values and principles that all staff and peers share.As a result, our model is humanistic and person-centred. Main duties of the job

In this role you will facilitate and support the recruitment, expansion, and management of peermentor roles within the Living Well service, wider system, and Trust.

The role will includeproviding high quality supervision, training, education, and support to peer mentors within theLiving Well service, wider system, and Trust. The role will involve working alongside the TrustRecovery Academy to identify peer mentor placements to promote experiential learning andskill development for those interested in seeking formal peer support roles in the Living Wellservice, wider system, and Trust.

The role will work with teams and the wider system to prepare them for the introduction of peer mentors and run information/education/training sessions to increase understanding of the peer mentor role. You will also provide specialist peer mentor input into service planning, development, and evaluation.

In this role you will also be expected to work directly with a small number of people who usethe Living Well service and their wider networks as a peer mentor. You will also undertakeinitial conversation / assessments of people as part of the LW duty system in accordance withagreed operational procedures.

  • Competent in Basic Microsoft Office applications
