Job summary

This is a vital role within the busy Data Management team of the Trust. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the BI team with the design, development and delivery of high-quality Power BI datasets, working closely with other members of the Data Management team and Data Visualisation leads to ensure the datasets meet the Trust reporting requirements

The post holder will also support other members of the Data Management team with analysis, design and development of the Trust data warehouse. The post holder will also support the Data Visualisation Leads across the BI team in the use of the datasets by providing expert advice and guidance and by completion of comprehensive documentationRole subject to job matching

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for the creation, management, monitoring and continued development of the Trust Power BI datasets and associated systems on a day-to-day basis.
  • Provide support with the ongoing management and development of the trust data warehouse and associated systems, including identification, management, and implementation of projects to further develop and enhance the systems.
  • Support the development of intuitive, web-based reporting, analysis, and dashboarding for all levels of the Trust including clinicians, service managers, and directors.
  • To support the ongoing maintenance and effective validation of the system to ensure it is fit for purpose, including adherence to National and local information standards and reporting requirements.
  • To explore advances in data warehousing and reporting technologies appropriate to the organisation.
  • To commit to continual education through formal training, informal skills transfer and self-tuition. This post requires continual upgrading of skills to reflect rapid changes in technology.
  • Based on own learning and research to introduce, develop, and improve Trust data warehousing and reporting processes in order to support and improve clinical and operational decision making and therefore support the delivery of the Trust's strategic objectives

  • To support developing and maintaining the data warehousing environment architecture, data source identification and assessment, data modelling, data imports, data quality, data storage, and data security
  • To support the development of data warehouse data sources and information processing, working closely with the team, IT, and operational colleagues.
  • To support the management of data and information flows from operational/departmental systems into the data warehouse, ensuring that all key data items are stored efficiently and in a way that is conducive to effective and efficient information reporting.
  • To support the improvement and streamlining of existing processes and data feeds from systems to promote greater efficiency and effectiveness. To promote the automation of standard, regular reports.
  • To design, code, test, and implement efficient and robust database schemas, SQL queries, views, stored procedures as part of the data warehouse development and maintenance.
  • To ensure the proactive management of the integrity of data within the warehouse, investigating, raising, and resolving issues with appropriate colleagues, internally and externally.
  • To assist team members with database analysis and data interpretation, including problem solving using SQL programming, use of advanced functions and complex methodology.
