Job summary

We are looking for a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager at Woodlands Hospital within the Salford Division, at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. The Post is a full-time permanent contract.

Woodlands Hospital is an Older Adults Mental health In-patient Unit within Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust.

There are 3 wards containing a total of 50 beds. We care for 70+ year old patients with functional mental health needs and patients of various ages with an organic diagnosis. This patient group & their carer's respond well to warm, caring & enthusiastic staff, making work a rewarding & fulfilling experience.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, passionate individuals with post registration experience at band 5 and who have an interest in developing their management and leadership skills as well as a strong interest in Older Adults Inpatient Mental health

Main duties of the job

To assist the Ward Manager in providing leadership and operational management to the ward, ensuring the provision of quality nursing care to all service users

The post holder will assess, plan and implement care, and provide specialist nursing advice, and carry out nursing procedures

They will provide clinical and managerial leadership to junior staff, and provide supervision to junior staff and students

To support the Ward Manager in the implementation and sustainment of quality improvement projects on the ward

To act as a positive role model to the team, demonstrating the core values of Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust

To provide 24 hour senior nurse input to the unit and liaise with other agencies to support this duty
