Job summary
The Adult Forensic Service (AFS) is part of the Specialist Service Network (SSN) and consists of medium and low secure units. AFS employs over 600 staff and cares for over 200 patients, it is an innovative forward-thinking service incorporating a QI approach to patient care and staff health and well-being.
The main units are based on the Prestwich site and they are Edenfield (MSU) and Lowry Unit (LSU). AFS also consists of several community-based wards plus a community team (including a Forensic Assessment and Support Team).

Main duties of the job
The post holder will play an integral part in the strategic assessment, development, planning and delivery of flexible, Innovative and responsive services for our patients and carers with mental health needs.
The post holder will have a wide range of responsibilities including deputizing for the Head of Operations as and contributing to the management of change in service provision, supporting service re-design and directly influencing our future service provision.
The post holder will be required to provide management and professional leadership to operational managers and will be accountable for service delivery in their areas of responsibility.

Job responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction, supporting and engaging professionals in the management and delivery of services.
- Work with the Clinical Lead to deliver high quality care, ensuring quality governance standards are maintained and that national and local targets are achieved.
- Be outcome focused, ensuring patients length of stay is reduced and only those patients who requires Forensic support are admitted.
- Monitor access and waiting times and link in with other services as part of our Provider Collaborative.
- Work with system partner agencies and attend weekly Clinical activity panels to ensure collaborative working across GM.
- Responsible for ensuring that robust performance, financial and staff management arrangements are in place.
- Responsible for the day to day management of the service, delivering high quality outcomes for all patients and carers.
- Ensure that services are provided safely and with cultural sensitivity, in privacy and with dignity for individual patients and carers.
- Ensure performance management systems are in place to record and report service performance data within designated Trust and commissioning time
- Advise on significant Risk, Patient Safety and Health and Safety issues that may affect the service, including incidents; maintain and monitor risk
- Maintain service responsibility for Safeguarding
- Lead engagement events for the service, to include staff, patients, carers and relatives.
- Highlight areas for service development and contribute to the development of business cases and service improvement
- Lead for organisational change and service redesign programmes where required and support the development of the service and the teams within
- Manage the services within the available financial resources; ensuring financial governance and best value for money principles are
