Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and creative Ward Manager to work on mixed gender adult acute inpatient ward within Laureate House.

You will have the necessary skills to lead, support and manage staff, and be visible and accessible to service users and their families. Your skills should enable you to meet the requirements of this demanding post which include balancing operational management, professional leadership and the active development of the service.

You will ensure staff commitment to good evidence based practice, ensure the delivery of a quality service and that key activity targets are being met. Important in your role is also to enable user independence, choice, dignity and ensuring safety.

The post holder must hold a relevant nursing qualification (RMN) with a valid registration, and have a minimum of 5 years post registration experience with at least two years at Band 6 or above in an acute inpatient setting.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide effective leadership and operational management to the ward ensuring the provision of high quality nursing care to all service users on the ward / department over a 24 hour period.

To promote and maintain excellence in nursing practice. To be responsible for leading the work of the care team and the co-ordination of effective utilization and resources within the defined area.

The post holder will be accountable to service users / patients, and operate within the Trust's framework of policies and guidelines.

To support the Matron with the management of the clinical area.

This role includes participation in the local on call manager rota covering out of hours periods overnight, at weekends and bank holidays.
