Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated psychologist or psychological therapist to workin a new community mental health service in Wigan called Living Well (LW). The Living WellService will enable timely access to mental health services when people need it most andprovide support for people who might not traditionally meet the threshold or criteria of existingmental health services. The team will be multidisciplinary and will include third sectororganizations. We will also be supporting several peer mentor roles within the team.

You will be supported by members of the leadership team including a team leader, operationalprogramme manager and in time a clinical psychologist. CPD opportunities are available and personal interests/skills will be supported to develop and grow.

The Wigan Living Well Service will be compassionately led, trauma informed, and recoveryfocused. Living Well has co-produced key values and principles that all staff and peers share.As a result, our model is humanistic and person-centred. Main duties of the job

In this role you will improve the levels of psychological support and care provided to peoplewho access the service. You will provide psychological assessment, formulation and possiblebrief interventions to people referred to the LW service at the same time as offeringsupervision and consultation on people's psychological care to non-psychology colleagues asand when required. You will also undertake initial conversation / assessments of people as part of the LW duty system in accordance with agreed operational procedures.

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • A professional qualification PLUS professional registration PLUS a post graduate diploma/degree in CBT/CAT. OR an undergraduate degree in psychology PLUS a post graduate diploma/degree in CBT and accreditation with the BABCP. OR completed a doctoral clinical/counselling psychology course and registered as a psychologist with the BPS/HCPC.

Desirable

  • Post qualification training in a specialised area of psychological practice (e.g., EMDR, DBT).

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in offering appropriate assessment & formulation of psychological difficulties and implement specific evidence-based therapies.
  • Experience of adopting a trauma informed approach.
  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for people's psychological care and treatment.
  • Experience of conducting high quality risk assessments and implementing risk management plans
  • Experience of working effectively within an MDT & supporting team members in the implementation of psychologically informed care.
  • Experience of teaching/training other people in the principles of psychologically informed care.

Desirable

  • Experience of providing supervision to other professionals.

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Effective liaison with colleagues in the wider system, relevant to people and their ongoing needs.
  • Evidence of continuing CPD as recommended by professional registration body.
