Job summary
The post holder will deliver holistic occupational therapy assessments and interventions to service users admitted on to the older adult's wards of the Moorside Inpatient Unit. Establishing levels of function, evaluating and reducing risk and facilitating occupational performance to support recovery and enable discharge.
We are looking for skilled and dynamic Occupational Therapist to join our fully integrated multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate be an enthusiastic, committed and highly motivated team player with excellent communication skills, providing evidence based clinical assessments and recovery focused interventions including individual and group work.
You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and with senior Occupational Therapists on the unit. The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working with older adults within an acute inpatient mental health setting and will demonstrate knowledge and skill of current good practice in older adults and dementia care. They will be committed to student education and their own personal development.
Main duties of the job
To manage a defined caseload of clients of any age within the designated Inpatient Wards with complex physical and mental health needs using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and record all interventions, and in line with relevant clinical pathway (functional or dementia) as outlined within the operational procedure
To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of the inpatient service with the designated team, holding responsibility for defined projects.
To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on fieldwork placement.
