An opportunity to work in a challenging but rewarding area of community mental health care, to be part of service and staff development, working in a small but friendly team with support from Senior Pracs on site and Senior Occupational Therapist.
Main duties of the job
Manage a defined caseload of clients in community mental health team with complex physical and mental health needs, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and record outcomes.
Professional advice for junior staff and support staff.
Supervise Occupational Therapy students on placement.
Abide by Royal College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and standards for practice.

- To manage a caseload of clients with complex mental health andphysical needs, taking on the role of care co-coordinator whereappropriate for clients requiring OT intervention.
- To undertake and record comprehensive risk assessments, devise and implement risk management plans for clients at risk of vulnerability,self-harm or risk of physical, sexual or emotional harm to others, using the STAR Risk Assessment Tool.
- To undertake specialist assessments when required in line with theMental Capacity Act 2007, The Mental Health Act and Local Authority Safeguarding Adults Procedures.
- To work with clients to identify Occupational Therapy goals as part ofoverall care plan, using specialist mental health and OT assessmenttools.
- To assess the occupational performance needs of a defined clientgroup, and establish and evaluate appropriate treatment programmes.
- To plan and implement individual and/or group interventions incollaboration with the client, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
