The Manchester Care Group (MCG) within the North Division have an exciting opportunity for a 3 full time Speciality (SAS) Doctors to work in our General Adult Wards.
We are looking for a dynamic, intuitive and competent individual, who has the ability to provide excellent and 'Best Care, Everyday' support to our service users.
There is lots of exciting change within the North Division in MCG with the developments a new inpatient facility on the North Manchester General Hospital Site. Job Summary
Park House is an in-patient psychiatric unit based in the grounds of North Manchester General Hospital. It is one of the largest inpatient psychiatric units in the Northwest with a total of 9 psychiatric wards including acute male, female, later life, PICU and an assessment unit.
This a full-time appointment for 3 SAS doctors who will each work on one of our general-adult (adults of working age- AOWA) inpatient wards. Successful candidates will be working with a multidisciplinary team consisting of consultant psychiatrist, psychiatry/foundation/GP doctors in training, advance nurse practitioners, nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, and support workers.
Successful candidates are expected to participate in the middle tier on-call Rota. The on-call would be pro-rata.
Main duties of the job
What will this role involve?
Clinical Roles:Attend ward rounds, conduct reviews, and create management plans for patients on the ward. It also includes chairing ward rounds and making decisions about patient care in the absence of the consultant, seeking advice from covering consultant when appropriate.
- Complete, review and authorize discharge summaries as required
- MHA work including preparation of tribunal reports and presenting evidence at the tribunal hearings. If Section 12 approved, then will be required to undertake MHA assessments within the unit as required
- Assess and manage physical health for patients on the inpatient wards.
Leadership roles:
- Participate in leading clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care
- Be involved in developing service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards
- Be involved in clinical governance related activities such as audits and quality improvement projects.
Educational roles:
- Provide supervision and support to doctors in training working with the team
- Provide teaching to medical students and doctors in training working in the trust
