Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Older Adult North Manchester Community Mental Health Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic qualified Speech and Language Therapist keen to develop their skills in supporting patients mental and physical health. This varied and rewarding role alsoincludes service input to patients at Park House, North Manchester General Hospital. The Speech and Language Therapist will be joining a small supportive team of Speech and Language Therapists who work across the wider trust.We have regular team meetings, CPD opportunities and dedication to developing our service and patient care. We are focussed on staff wellbeing offering clinical and line management supervision.

The postholder will be supported by experienced Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapists. We look forward to a motivated Speech and Language Therapist joining our established and friendly teams.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work within Older Adult Community Mental Health Team providing specialist speech and language therapy support.The post holder will also provide support to inpatient settings

The post holder will provide SLT assessment, advice and intervention for those whose communication impairments are as a primary result of organic or functional diagnosis, and where difficulties are having a direct impact upon current health and well-being and functional ability. They will provide dysphagia assessment, advice, and intervention in order to stabilise and/or reduce associated clinical risks on oral intake, make recommendations regarding environment, positioning, dysphagia techniques and/or texture modification of diet and fluids.

  • To effectively examine and assess patients, identify their problems, and needs and ensure that patients' medical, cognitive, psychological, social, environmental, and cultural factors are taken into account including those with diverse or complex presentations/multi-pathologies.
