Job summary

An opportunity has been developed for a Band 4 Nurse Associate to join the DICE (Disability Intensive Care Enhanced) team for a fixed term of 18 months.

The DICE team provides intensive support for children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism during times of crisis and recovery when discharged back to the care of community services.

Our aim is to prevent avoidable hospital admissions, stabilise crises, and support recovery in the community.

The team provides short term intensive intervention, working collaboratively with individuals, families, carers, and local services, to stabilise and enable people to live safely and meaningfully in the community.

As a NMC registered practitioner, the Nursing Associate will work in a clinical field, with supervision from and report to a Registered Nurse. They will deliver safe, compassionate, and dignified patient centred health care. The Nursing Associate will be expected to plan and prioritise their workload, implement evidence-based care; utilise relevant guidance, protocols, and policies (local and national); contribute to care planning and patient review.

Main duties of the job

To work with children and young people with autism and or learning disabilities who are at risk of psychiatric hospital admission, with an aim of providing care in the community and reducing the incidences of admission.

To offer specialist, intensive episodes of care, under the supervision of a qualified nurse, to stabilise crises and provide individualised care to children and young people.

To draw on experience and training in autism and or learning disabilities to provide evidence based interventions that contribute to positive outcomes for individuals and their families.
