Job summary
We are seeking a forward-thinking Spiritual Care Practitioner (Chaplain) to join our team, passionate about the intersection of spiritual wellbeing and mental health recovery. The role involves developing and expanding services in line with evidence-based practice and the Recovery agenda, while integrating spiritual support into recovery-focused approaches.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable populations, and in community settings, helping extend Spiritual Care beyond institutional environments. Experience in research and data collection to evaluate the impact of interventions is essential, ensuring services are measurable, evidence-based, and continuously improved.
We are looking for someone innovative and strategic, capable of developing new approaches, partnerships, and pathways to make Spiritual Care more accessible and responsive to diverse needs.
Main duties of the job
Being the primary spiritual care representative on allocated wards, offering and delivering spiritual and pastoral care to all inpatients regardless of the patient's or post holder's personal faith belief
To facilitate spiritual activities requested by departments, wards or service user groups.
Responding to requests for links to be made with local spiritual and pastoral support for service users discharged from hospital or receiving services from a community team, managing the sensitivities where there are concerns about potential conflict between priorities for clinical care and the beliefs and values of the faith
Completing electronic patients records and electronic diary of activities undertaken in a timely manner to adhere guideline and best practice which support production of audit checks.
Contributing appropriately to research, service modernisation, policies, clinical governance and any other process developed to enhance the provision of spiritual care services including undertaking surveys and audits as necessary to own work - i.e. faith surveys.
