Band 8a Senior Clinical Pharmacist - Specialties and Trials

Job summary

Due to the career progression of the current postholder, Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust Pharmacy are developing the role of our senior clinical pharmacist for Specialties and expanding it to incorporate a clinical trials role as well.

The new role will cover the provision of clinical services to the Specialties unit, Deaf services, Mother and Baby and Eating Disorders, and the implementation and development of a new clinical trials lead role. The clinical trials component will require management of the existing portfolio of trials overseen by Pharmacy, as well as the development of new research projects and opportunities.

Main duties of the job

Including but not limited to (See full JD and PS):

  • be the lead clinical highly specialised pharmacist for the Specialties service area providing advice on clinical and medicines management issues.
  • participate in the formulation, audit and review of guidelines within the trust.
  • supervise and manage other clinical pharmacists when providing services for the service area
  • provide expert clinical advice on all medicine related matters.
  • support education for all grades of staff of the trust.
  • To actively practice as a non-medical prescriber with a specified case-load of service-users within a respective service and within a clinic setting or be working towards a prescribing qualification
  • To lead the development and implementation of the clinical trial pharmacist role within the Trust
  • To be the pharmacy contact for research trial sponsors and CROs
  • Lead and supervise the pharmacy clinical trial service
  • Oversight and development of pharmacy related clinical trials income
  • Contribute to the assessment and feasibility of delivery of clinical trials within the trust
