Senior CBT Psychological Therapist (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) Band 7
We have an exciting vacancy that have arisen for a Band 7 CBT Psychological Therapist within our Dementia and Frailty Services. We are seeking qualified and experienced CBT psychological therapist to join our Psychology team within the Dementia and Frailty Division at BSMHFT, providing mental health services to older people with complex mental health needs in Birmingham and Solihull.
These post are suitable for individuals who hold a CBT diploma or Masters qualification and are accredited with the BABCP. We are looking for suitably experienced and qualified psychological practitioners.
Applicants will have experience of working with clients with severe and enduring mental health difficulties and ideally working with older adults' population, but we are able to provide support to help develop skills within the older adults' population. The post-holder will be part of multi-professional teams supporting the Transformation of our Community Services in BSMHFT as part of the NHS Long Term Plan.
This is a full-time post that will operate from different sites of Birmingham. We would welcome applications from those looking to build upon their clinical skills with a wide range of presenting difficulties to make a difference in the community.
Main duties of the job
Working with older people is highly rewarding, and allows Applied Psychologists to use their diverse knowledge, skills and leadership. The post-holder will be assessing, formulating, and delivering interventions to older people with complex mental health needs.
We are looking for enthusiastic, committed and skilled clinicians who can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. The individual will have excellent opportunities to gain experience of multilevel and integrated service provision and to further develop skills mainly in groups but also in one-to-one work.
It is not unusual to encounter frailty and other comorbidities in our older adult's population, requiring a holistic and integrated approach to psychological care.
The successful candidate would also actively engage with CMHTs to identify local needs and gaps in psychological intervention offerings.
Audit, service evaluation, and Quality Improvement projects are strongly encouraged, and BSMHFT offers good training to develop your skills in this area. There are opportunities for supervising junior members of the team . There are also opportunities to develop and deliver CPD training sessions to staff and teams, as well as staff support, e.g., reflective practice.

- A specialist post-graduate (or equivalent) qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) i.e. MSc, or Post Graduate Diploma. For trainee post to be enrolled on one of these courses or willing to complete a postgraduate course.
- Accredited with BABCP

- Additional qualifications in an accredited therapy
- A qualification, or have undertaken a program of formal training in Clinical Supervision (e.g. completion of a specialist Clinical Supervision Module).
