Job summary
Are you able to motivate and support service users in the early stages of their admission into secure services?
The post holder will work within the establishment of the ward supporting service user's admission and during their progression on the ward. The role will include coming up with innovative ways to engage service users with complex needs. There will be the opportunity to assess service users prior to admission, in external settings.
Your input will set them up for their journey through secure care; giving them the opportunity and a stepping stone to progress into less restrictive environments.
The service prides itself on striving to support the recovery of working age males detained under both criminal and civil sections of the Mental Health Act. The service users we care for experience severe and enduring mental health problems, acute mental illness and often present with behaviours that are challenging.
As a senior member of the service, you will represent your profession and act as a role model in a manner that positively reflects the trauma informed care philosophy of the secure service and the wider values of the organization. You will be engaged in meeting the service and trust strategies to promote recovery, address inequalities such as employment, education and physical health.
Main duties of the job
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to provide 12 months maternity cover. The post sits within the Personality Focused Recovery Service inpatient team working alongside a range of multi-disciplinary staff including mental health nurses, health care assistants and psychiatrists. You will provide input from an occupational therapy perspective to the clinical team.
