Job summary
Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (BSMHFT) is looking for an enthusiastic and committed research associate / community mental health worker to assist in the development of a new 24/7 Neighbourhood Mental Health Centre pilot in the East Birmingham. This is one of six new pilot project funded by NHS England to test a comprehensive community mental health model, similar to well established models such as Trieste.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be involved in both quantitative (secondary data analysis) and qualitative research. As such, the post holder is expected to have graduate level research knowledge and experience, with key skills in data collection, organisation, storage and management. The post holder should be familiar with using software such as Microsoft Excel, SPSS, Nvivo (similar qualitative data analysis software tools) to help manage and statistically analyse quantitative/qualitative data. The post also requires a good understanding of mental, physical or public health research, including the use of rating scales, semi-structured and narrative interviews with staff and patients.
In addition to helping with research and evaluation related to 24/7 NMHC, there will be an expectation that this person will play a clinical / support role and be an integral member of the 24/7 NMHC pilot team providing care and service to the patients who access the service. Appropriate training and induction will be provided as well as ongoing support and supervision to make most of this exciting opportunity to be in the frontline of care delivery and contributing to research at the same time.
