Job summary

This post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development, delivery, and evaluation of service user feedback in a custodial environment at HMP Birmingham. The post holder will work in partnership with the Head of Offender Health and other senior colleagues to monitor, challenge and improve the quality of patient care within the services. Huge inequalities exist for the people who use healthcare in prison environments and the successful post holder will need to be able to engage proactively with service users and be recovery focussed with your approach to improving their journey and experience of healthcare in the custodial environment. Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills will be required for this post, and you will need to be able to work effectively both on your own initiative and as part of the team.

Main duties of the job

  • The successful candidate will work closely with the healthcare and prison senior leadership team to ensure rich feedback is incorporated into the service delivery.
  • Oversee and train well being navigators within the prison
  • Attend and contribute to a variety of healthcare and prison meetings
  • Multi Agency working with Foundation to change and DATUS
  • Line management responsibilities
  • Delivering group work, and escorting prisoners
  • Working with local charities and communities to support opportunities in the community for released prisoners
  • Oversee a complaints and compliments system within he healthcare team
  • Be a valued and active member of the healthcare leadership team
  • Manage budgets
