Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust

Job summary

Our Participation and Experience team support the engagement of service users, families and carers in all aspects of services, both at an individual and service-wide level. We promote service user involvement, and support teams to use experience data to bring about changes and improvements working alongside our service users and families in order to co-produce improvements from the start. To be part of our team we are looking for candidates who have a real interest in service user and family experience and be recovery focussed in your approach.

The team has been increasing its focus on developing a more structured approach to service user, family and carer participation through the evolving Expert By Experience programme. We will be continuing to develop this programme and the EBE training that we currently provide and work towards developing a robust pathway of experience and learning for our service users, families and carers.

A further key feature of our service is to thread specific family and carer engagement work throughout all team roles rather than one, individual role, thus increasing the visibility and drive to improve the experience of families and carers across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Working as a key part of our administration team, the purpose of the role is to provide full administrative support for the Participation & Experience team, including our Expert by Experience Programme and Service User, Carer and Family Experience programmes of work. To act as the focal point of contact for our service users, carers and families who are engaged with our service, and be responsible for the dissemination of information, messages and enquiries for the Patient Experience Team. You will be asked to provide cross cover and support to other teams in the event of absence planned or otherwise.

Key to the job is working in a way that consolidates systems and processes in order to ensure an efficient admin support for our EBE programme.
