Job summary

The Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit to a 0.5 WTE Specialty Doctor Post for Maple Leaf Community Mental Health Team.

We are looking for a candidate with full GMC registration, Section 12 approval and holding at least 4 years' experience or equivalent in postgraduate training with at least 2 years experience in Psychiatry. MRCPsych, at least Part 1 or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry is desirable.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist as well as the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team. Maple Leaf CMHT is part of the Solihull Community Hub.

There are separate community teams for Older adults and Assertive Outreach Teams. There is also a dedicated Home treatment team located nearby at the Zinnia Centre. Whilst this is a service post, the successful candidates' career development will be strongly supported, looking to further training or a specialist interest.

  • Recognised medical degree.
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • Eligible for approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act (1983)
  • Completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be within a psychiatry training programme or as a fixed term specialty trainee within psychiatry; or have equivalent experience and competencies.
  • Commitment to personal programme of Continuing Professional Development.
  • At least two years' experience of working in psychiatry, including working with people suffering from severe mental illness, preferably in a community setting
  • Experience of teaching and training at an undergraduate/postgraduate level
  • Commitment to clinical audit and quality improvement within multi-disciplinary team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing service needs.
  • Ability to work creatively within multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrable interest in the provision of gender sensitive mental health service
  • Able to travel across the community base area
